Home of Hope
Operating Expenses
Meet Renita.
Renita is the Director of Operations at Home of Hope, a residential facility for children and young mothers experiencing homelessness in Gwinnett County. Home of Hope is committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness—two generations at a time. They want to take their clients from homeless to hopeful to a home of their own.
“Our agency is unique in what we do,” Renita told us. “We’re not a Band-Aid agency. We trace how our clients ended up in homelessness and help them develop a strategy to ensure it doesn’t happen again. We’re here to make sure they aren’t homeless tomorrow, a year from now, and forever.”
Renita oversees all the staff and guests at Home of Hope and tries to create a family atmosphere where women know that they have a listening ear and a support team as they work through the challenges they’re facing. She’s known as the “firm but fair” mama bear of the team who protects her staff and clients… and holds them accountable.
“There’s nothing more rewarding to me than helping a mom help her children,” Renita shared.
There’s no doubt Renita and the Home of Hope team are FOR Gwinnett and through last year’s Be Rich campaign, you were able to be FOR Home of Hope as they work to transform our community.
Because of your generosity through Be Rich, we were able to fund some of Home of Hope’s operating expenses over the past year. It was used to welcome women and children into the Home of Hope family and give them the tools they needed to rebuild their lives and find hope—maybe for the first time. It’s funding that meets a real need in our community and helps people like Renita be more FOR than ever before.
